{"id":67,"date":"2014-01-09T11:34:50","date_gmt":"2014-01-09T10:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.itosco.it\/wordpress\/?p=67"},"modified":"2014-09-11T12:48:47","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T10:48:47","slug":"cyberbullying-italian-ministry-of-economic-developement-promotes-providers-ethical-code","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.itosco.it\/wordpress\/?p=67","title":{"rendered":"Cyberbullying &#8211; Italian Ministry of Economic Developement promotes providers&#8217; ethical code"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-right\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.itosco.it\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fposts%2F67&print=pdf\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.itosco.it\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fposts%2F67&print=print\" class=\"pdfprnt-button pdfprnt-button-print\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/div><p>8 January 2014 &#8211; Good news on Cyberbullying, bad news for cyberbullies.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico has published a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sviluppoeconomico.gov.it\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;viewType=1&amp;idarea1=593&amp;idarea2=0&amp;idarea3=0&amp;idarea4=0&amp;andor=AND&amp;sectionid=0&amp;andorcat=AND&amp;partebassaType=0&amp;idareaCalendario1=0&amp;MvediT=1&amp;showMenu=1&amp;showCat=1&amp;showArchiveNewsBotton=0&amp;idmenu=2263&amp;id=2029886\">consultation document<\/a> that is the initial draft version of a code of ethics for Service Providers aiming at protecting young people from cyberbullying. &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cyberbullying\">Cyberbullying<\/a>\u00a0is the use of\u00a0Information Technology\u00a0to harm or harass other people in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner&#8221; (cfr Wikipedia), and is one of the worrying sides of the present decay of public speech over Internet.<\/p>\n<p>The document establishes a Committee made of experts taken from the stakeholders of the project :\u00a0institutions (The Ministry, Agcom, Polizia postale e delle comunicazioni, Autorit\u00e0 per la privacy, Garante per l\u2019infanzia e Comitato media e minori), industrial syndication (Confindustria digitale, Assoprovider ecc.) and operators(Google, Microsoft ecc.) and a principle of\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">easy and quick reaction<\/span> from qualified personnel in case of cyberbullying episodes.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative is highly welcome, as this phenomenon is increasingly scary. Since 2008, 41 teenagers committed suicide admittedly due to mobbing and stalking episodes occurred while living a normal web-life (see enquiry &#8211;&gt; <a href=\"http:\/\/inchieste.repubblica.it\/it\/repubblica\/rep-it\/2013\/06\/03\/news\/quando_i_social_network_uccidono_gli_adolescenti_vittima_di_cyberbullismo-60257903\/\">here<\/a>). It is hard to decide whether these (unjustifiable) deaths are &#8220;more&#8221; or &#8220;less&#8221; tragic than the effects this type of &#8220;mala educacion&#8221; is inducing in adults&#8217; behaviours, such as the recent political mobbing cases emerged on Mr Bersani&#8217;s health conditions, or than plain religious censorship (as happened in Iran yesterday &#8211;&gt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.repubblica.it\/esteri\/2014\/01\/08\/news\/iran_khamenei_fatwa_no_chat_online-75386104\/?ref=HREC1-34\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>8 January 2014 &#8211; Good news on Cyberbullying, bad news for cyberbullies.
